SERVICE APPOINTMENTS

We recommend appointments for oil changes as well as all other types of repairs. This assists us in ensuring your vehicle is returned in a timely manner and allows us to perform a courtesy check on your vehicle. Certainly if you desire to wait, we will make your stay as comfortable as possible in our waiting room equipped with a TV, comfortable seating, and a child’s play area.
Why do I need maintenance services?

Today’s vehicles are designed to give several years of trouble-free service with routine maintenance. In addition to regularly scheduled oil and filter changes, periodic flushes of other fluids (brake, coolant, power steering, and transmission fluids) will keep the components of your vehicle’s systems operating efficiently and will extend their useful lives. Flushing your vehicle systems at recommended intervals will greatly assist in removing harmful contaminants from your vehicle systems. System flushes, when combined with your vehicle manufacturer’s scheduled maintenance program, will greatly extend the useful life of your vehicle and give you many miles of worry-free driving.

It makes economic sense to maintain your vehicle and keep it for 5 to 10 years rather than trading every 2 to 3 years. Most new cars cost in excess of $20,000 and lose $2,000 to $3,000 in value as soon as they are driven away from the dealership. New cars incur higher taxes and license fees, increased insurance costs, and vehicles depreciate at a faster rate during the early years of their lives. This early depreciation is why a person who trades for a new car every couple of years can never seem to get ahead. The small amount of equity gained from car payments is lost with the initial depreciation incurred on a new vehicle.

Besides, if you like the vehicle you already own, why not repair it instead of buying a new vehicle? Your savings will be much greater in the long run.

Below is some additional detail on the services and products we offer:

Courtesy Checks
We perform visual inspections on your vehicle while it is in for maintenance or repairs. This lets our customers know the overall condition of their vehicles and allows them to make an informed decision on how or if to repair their vehicles. There are times when we recommend not repairing a vehicle because the repair costs may exceed the value of the car.

Preventive Maintenance Services
We perform mileage interval inspections on your vehicle using your owner’s manual, All Data™, and Mitchell 1™ online service guides. After checking the vehicle per your manual, we will prioritize the items we identify during the inspection. Your vehicle manufacturer and other automotive engineers have developed scheduled maintenance plans for all vehicles manufactured in the last 20 years. Typically, the maintenance schedules list the maintenance that should be performed on your vehicles at intervals similar to the ones shown below (intervals will vary by vehicle models, use, and manufacturer).
                        √ 30, 000 miles                        √   90,000 miles
                        √ 60,000 miles                         √ 120,000 miles

Tire Sales and Service
We carry a full line of Bridgestone/Firestone products for passenger vehicles as well as light trucks. We can order most other brands of tires and have them within one business day. We only stock tires manufactured within the last year to give maximum tire life to our low-mileage customers. In addition to fixing flats, we offer mounting, balancing, and tire rotation services. We also include a Sonsio nationwide road-hazard warranty in our tire packages. In addition to getting a replacement tire in the event of a sidewall puncture, your flats are fixed free as long as you own the tire covered by the Sonsio road-hazard warranty.

Two important things to remember about tire life and safety:

  • Rotate your tires every 6-10K miles
  • Balance and align your tires annually

Shocks and Struts
We use quality suspension products provided by Monroe Shocks & Struts. It's relatively easy for most vehicle owners to determine when their tires, brakes, and windshield wipers are worn out. Shocks and struts, on the other hand, aren't nearly as simple to inspect, in spite of the fact that these safety-critical components are highly susceptible to everyday wear and tear. Worn shocks and struts can allow excessive body roll when turning, which affects the vehicle's ability to safely steer around objects in the road. Worn shocks and struts can allow too much weight transfer to the front wheels during braking, which could result in a measurable increase in stopping distance. Worn shocks and struts can allow excessive roll, sway, and bounce while the vehicle is in motion, which reduces the driver's control. These are some reasons why experts recommend replacing shocks and struts at 50,000 miles. Testing has shown that original equipment gas-charged shocks and struts degrade measurably by 50,000 miles. (Actual mileage may vary, depending upon driver ability, vehicle type, and the type of driving and road conditions.) For many popular-selling vehicles, replacing these worn shocks and struts can improve the vehicle's handling characteristics and comfort.

Battery Sales and Service
We stock Interstate Batteries, which is a nationwide company offering three different warranty periods:  60-month; 75-month; and 85-month. We have the capability to maintain and test your existing battery; proper maintenance can extend the life of your battery and help prevent that sinking feeling you get when your vehicle will not start on a cold morning.

Brake Systems
Midas offers a lifetime warranty on most of its Midas Secure Stop friction products.  We offer organic, metallic, and ceramic friction products. All of our hydraulic parts carry a one-year warranty; you won’t find a better warranty anywhere.

Classic (Vintage) Vehicle Service
Our president and operations manager has a special interest in vintage vehicles, as he has personally owned one for 22 years. This interest has led him to develop a specialty in this area, and he has rebuilt, repaired, and customized many classic vehicles over the last 20-plus years. He has gained a reputation for quality vintage automobile work and has been asked to travel to other states to assess the viability of restoring a particular vintage auto.

Power Train Services
We provide complete power train maintenance, diagnostic, and repair services. We use a transmission repair technician with over 25 years of experience on all makes and models of transmissions. We can overhaul most engines and transmissions; if it is more cost effective to replace your engine or transmission, we can install a quality rebuilt engine or transmission from JASPER Engines and Transmissions.

Specialty Vehicles
Over the past several years we have seen rapid growth in the number of diesel and hybrid vehicles. Anticipating the demand for maintenance and repair services on these types of vehicles, we sent our ASE-certified technicians to training specific to these specialty vehicles. At both stores we have the capability to service and repair vehicles larger than one-ton, including box trucks.

Exhaust Systems
Midas is still the master in exhaust system work, which includes traditional needs to custom exhaust systems. James Marsh, our President and Operations Manager, has a developed a reputation for his quality and expert custom exhaust work. Custom exhaust work is done at both our locations by appointment only, which allows James to meet with you to determine exactly what you want done, examine your current exhaust configuration, and estimate the cost of fabricating the system you want.

We proudly use FLOWMASTER parts because their product line includes exhaust products for performance, street, muscle cars, trucks, street rods, RV's, motor homes, and all types of race applications. With many different muffler models, 370+ exhaust systems, and numerous exhaust accessories available, Flowmaster offers you the choice of sound to fit your sound preference from "wild to mild."

Exhaust parts for some older model vehicles are no longer being manufactured and are not stocked by most parts wholesalers. We have a number of these hard-to-get exhaust parts in stock at our two local stores. If you need to install one of these hard-to-obtain parts and we do not have it in stock, we can reach out to other Midas stores around the country with a good chance of finding the part you need.

Oil and Lubrication Services
We use 5W20, 5W30, and 10W30 nonsynthetic oil for our standard oil changes. We also stock several grades of Mobil 1 synthetic oil. We stock Mobil 1 because it is a premium quality, synthetic, API SM motor oil designed for use in passenger cars, vans, sports utility vehicles and light trucks under all operating conditions. It is formulated to provide excellent wear protection, to minimize engine sludge and varnish deposits, and to resist viscosity and high-temperature thermal breakdown even in severe service. It also protects against rust, bearing corrosion, and foaming. The synthetic formula provides an extra margin of protection at both low and high temperatures compared with conventional all-mineral motor oils.

Flush Services
We use BG Products, Inc. because of their quality that is backed by their Lifetime BG Protection Plan that supports a maintenance program for your vehicle’s major systems: engine, fuel, transmission, driveline, coolant, power steering, and brakes. BG Products, Inc., is dedicated to making vehicles last longer and perform better.

BG Power Steering Flush is recommended every two years or 24,000 miles because oxidation by-products, hose material, and metallic debris accumulate in the fluid. As contaminated fluid is pumped through the system under very high pressure, it causes abrasive wear in the pump and the rack assembly, leading to premature wear, pump noise, and erratic steering.

BG Transmission Flush is recommended every two years or 24,000 miles because oxidized fluid and oxidation residues can cause blockage of oil lines or filter screens. Deposits can also cause malfunction of delicate shift control mechanisms or even complete transmission failure.

BG Induction/Injector System Flush is recommended every two years or 30,000 miles because deposits that build up in the fuel induction system may cause drivability problems such as hesitation, surge, stalling, hard starting, rough idle, and loss of power. Deposits that build up in the air induction system may cause rough idle, excessive exhaust emissions, loss of performance, and loss of gas mileage.

BG Coolant System Flush is recommended on a yearly basis. When coolant is depleted of buffering ingredients, it becomes extremely corrosive, literally eating holes in coolant system components, as well as clogging passageways in the radiator which may overheat the engine and cause damage beyond repair.

Brake System Flush is recommended every two years or 24,000 miles because flushing the brake system helps to remove deposits, debris, and other contaminants that travel in the brake system and tend to fall to the lowest point in the system. This helps prolong the life of calipers, wheel cylinders, and the brake master cylinder.

Alignments
Your vehicle should be checked for alignment every year and should be aligned at least every 30,000 miles. Daily road shock and general wear and tear can cause your alignment to shift out of the recommended specifications. When that happens, control of the vehicle may be threatened and your tires may begin to wear unevenly and rapidly. If your vehicle has hit a severe bump or curb you should have the alignment checked.

Fleet Work
We participate in national fleet service plans through our affiliation with Midas. We also offer fleet services to smaller companies that cannot afford to sign up with one of the national fleet account service companies. Our local fleet service plans are designed for companies with three or more vehicles. Our plans allow for monthly billing and pre-authorized service arrangements.

We recognize the need for you to keep your fleet vehicles on the road, and we strive to get our fleet vehicles serviced and back on the road as soon as possible. If you would like more information as to how our local fleet plans can benefit your business, please contact a manager at any of our stores and ask to have our fleet representative contact you.

We now have two locations in Northern Virginia to better serve our customers. For information on our Warrenton VA location, Click Here
